Checkedmate

Built in the mid 1800, out of a swampland, the Gramercy Park neighborhood was one of the first attempts at city planning and now carries a lot of history ! The park, under the same name, is one of the only private parks left in the city; only residents who live nearby with a key can access, but you can peek in through the metal gates ! The streets are covered with old houses but the one at 80 Irving Place, is my favorite with ivy covering most of the house ! Gramercy Park is a very small neighborhood but it is charming, quiet and safe ! A great place for a Sunday afternoon walk !

I was wearing this look the other night for a dinner with a girlfriend and I thought I should share it with you guys !! It’s a pretty simple look but one that has character ! The top is actually a dress that came with a lining which I simply removed to make it a little sexier. I used to wear it as a dress (with the lining) with a belt to give it a little more shape. It’s very shapeless, loose and not very flattering on its own so the belt really helped to structure it. But I thought, why not wear it as a top instead !! I love the subtle see-through fabric, hence the lining, the deep V neck and the asymmetrical length ! Once again, to give it a shape, I tucked it in on one side. It defines your waist and the top ! I paired it with my cigarette checked trousers to create a nice contrast ! I was not wearing heels to meet my friend as I didn’t want to be overdressed ! But heels would have definitely been my first option so I decided to wear them for the pictures !! As I already mentioned (probably a few times by now !!), I really like how heels lengthen your legs and create a long nice figure ! To make the look a little more playful, I chose my eye shaped bag !! It’s funky and edgy but still keeps the chicness of the outfit !!

Hope you like this look as much as I do ! ♥
